We demonstrate once again that the coming of the Son of Man (16:27-28) could not have been fulfilled at any time prior to the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the Old Covenant world in AD70. His “coming in his kingdom” was the judgment and subjugation of his enemies, and the establishment and full consolidation of his kingdom, in fulfillment of 2 Samuel 7:12-14 and Psalm 110. Mathew 16:27-28 prophesied the first century second coming of Christ in fulfillment of the Old Testament prophets.
