In Mathew 24, Jesus taught that “the day and the hour” (the appointed time) for both the judgment and salvation of Israel would be accomplished in his generation, through the destruction of Jerusalem. Decades later, yet still within that generation, the apostles taught that “the day and the hour” (the appointed time) for that judgment and salvation was very near. And, like Jesus, they connected that judgment and salvation to the destruction of Jerusalem – the removal of the Old Covenant world of Judaism ( the covenant heaven and earth) – in AD70. The “day and hour” that no one knew, can now be known by all.
