Jesus evokes both the judgment in the days of Noah and in the days of Lot to communicate to his first century audience how it was going to be at his coming in judgment, in their lifetime. Jesus assures them that although the wicked would be caught off guard, they themselves through watchfulness, would be delivered. That judgment would be the end of all flesh, covenantally speaking.
