Jesus’ cryptic words about two men and two women, one being left and one being taken, need to be understood covenantally in the context of the end of the Jewish age. The two men represent the two covenant seeds, Isaac and Ishmael. The two women represent the two covenants, expressed by Paul as Sarah and Hagar. At the removal of the Old Covenant world in AD70, only one covenant man – the New Covenant man – dwelling in the New Covenant world be left. The Old Covenant world of flesh has been forever taken away.
