The judgment of Israel and Jerusalem in AD70 was the covenantal curse poured out upon the nation for forsaking the Law of Moses and for the murder of the righteous (Mathew 23:28-38). The appearing of Jesus marked the time of Israel’s “visitation” from Jehovah, and the time of their redemption. However, because the majority of Israel had not recognized the Messiah as the second Moses who had come to “visit” them and lead them out of the Old Covenant world of sin and death, they remained guilty under the Old Law and would be judged and destroyed in AD70.
