Mathew 24 – Part 20 – Delivered to Sanhedrins and Flogged

By comparing Mathew’s account of Jesus’ Olivet discourse with both Marks and Luke’s, we notice that these “tribulations” were to be primarily Jewish persecutions. Although the disciples of Christ did suffer severe persecution under the reign of Nero in the late AD60’s, the vast majority of their suffering came either directly or indirectly from the unfaithful Jews. Jesus encouraged his first century disciples to remain faithful through these persecutions. If they would, they would receive their salvation at the end of the Old Covenant age.
