According to Jesus, the salvation of Israel would come at the end of the Old Covenant age, and some of his disciples – those who would endure tribulation until “the end” – would experience it. Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:2 told the Corinthians that the salvation of Israel as prophesied in Isaiah 49:8 was being accomplished in their day, through the gospel. Paul also told the Ephesians that they had been sealed by the Spirit as the guarantee of that salvation which would come to them at the “day of redemption”. Jesus promised his first century disciples that the day of redemption would be accomplished through the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70. Therefore, those who endured tribulation until the end of the Old Covenant age in AD70, would receive their salvation, in the day of redemption, in fulfillment of Isaiah 49.
