Both Jesus and his disciples connected the destruction of Jerusalem with the end of the Old Covenant age. By remaining consistent to the idea that “the end” in the New Testament refers to the end of the Old Covenant age and not to the “end of time”, the imminent expectations of the New Testament writers not only make sense, but prove to be true. Those of Jesus’ first century disciples who endured until the end of the Old Covenant age in AD70 were saved…. that is, they received their salvation through the establishment of the Kingdom of God.
