The message of the great commission was the “gospel (good news) of the Kingdom” (Mathew 24:14). But, the gospel (good news) of the Kingdom was that the Kingdom would be established in the lifetime of Jesus’ contemporary generation (Mathew 16:27-28). Therefore, the the great commission was a first century commission to proclaim a first century message – the establishment of the Kingdom at the coming of the Lord to avenge the blood of the righteous (Mathew 21:3-45, Mathew 23:29-26). The great commission was fulfilled prior to the coming of the Lord to establish his Kingdom end of the Old Covenant age in AD70.
