The failure of modern bible interpreters to connect Jesus’ phrase “all tribes of the earth (land) shall mourn” (Mathew 24:30) with his earlier teachings regarding the “weeping and wailing” of first century Israel as a result of the AD70 destruction of Jerusalem, is truly lamentable. Jesus’ reference to the mourning of the all (12) tribes of the land (of Israel) in Mathew 24 was simply a reiteration of his warning to the Jews of his day in Luke 13:22-29. The message of rejection-judgment-mourning was a common theme throughout the ministry of Jesus…. if we have ears to hear.
