Mathew 24 Part 93 – The Gathering of Israel through the 2nd Exodus

Jesus’ quotation of Isaiah 11:12 in Mathew 24:31 identifies the “gathering of the elect” as the gathering of the remnant of his people through what Isaiah calls a “second recovery”, better known as the second exodus. Significantly, the word “recover” in verse 11 is from the Hebrew word “qanah”, the same word that is used in Exodus 15:16 to refer to Israel’s “purchase” out of Egypt. This means that Israel’s second exodus would take place when the Lord purchased her again – the second time – out of bondage. The gathering of the elect in Mathew 24 was the culmination of Israel’s second exodus which had been initiated 40 years earlier by their purchase through the Passover Lamb.
