Jesus came proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom. His message was both the favourable year of the Lord and the day of the Lord’s vengeance in fulfilment of Isaiah 61. Jesus preached the good news of the coming kingdom for the righteous, and the “bad news” of the days of vengeance for the unrighteous. Both messages found their ultimate fulfillment in AD70 when the Lord returned to destroy the Old Covenant world and it’s inhabitants, and establish the New Covenant reign of God through the Church. Luke 21 proves this definitively.
