The Parables of Jesus #11 The Kingdom of Heaven is Like Leaven

In today’s lesson we explore the parable of “the kingdom like leaven”. In the New Testament, leaven was used as a metaphor for negative influences on both the mind and the character of men. Those who had rejected the kingdom of God had embraced false doctrine and poor character, and like leaven, they began to influence others. However, those who submit to the the kingdom of God (the rule and reign of Christ in their lives) will be changed in both mind and character. Like leaven, the kingdom of God has the ability to influence our hearts and minds so that we might produce the fruit of righteousness in the lives that we live. To the degree that that church is influenced by the kingdom, it the degree that the kingdom is revealed to the world.
