Jesus’ famous phrase, “the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it”, was in reality drawn from many Old Testament passage (Genesis 49:10, Daniel 12:1-7,13, Isaiah 64-66 etc.); but primarily from Daniel 7. Once again, Jesus redefines the characters of Old Testament prophecy and reveals their new eschatological identity through the telling of his kingdom-parables.
