The Return of Jesus in Acts 1:9-11 Part 6

Scripture teaches that Jesus was to return “in just the same way” that he ascended (Acts 1:11). By comparing Acts 1:9-11 with Luke 24:50-51, we learn that Jesus ascended while “blessing” his disciples. Therefore, Jesus would return to “bless” his disciples. In his letter to the Hebrews, Paul anticipated their “blessing” (salvation) at the second coming of Jesus (Hebrews 9:28), and Jesus promised that “blessing” (redemption) to be received by the first century generation. Just as they had seen him go, so he returned in their lifetime. The focus of Acts 1:9-11 was not on the “body” of Jesus, but on the blessing that Jesus would bring to his body.
