According to Peter, the pouring out of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost was a sign to Israel that Jesus had received the promise God had sworn to David (2 Samuel 7). And, because Jesus had received that promise, the Kingdom of David (the Kingdom of God) was being extended to the house of Israel. The pouring out of the Spirit initiated the raising up (the building) of the tabernacle (house) of David.
