Through his resurrection, Christ had received the “sure mercies of David” in fulfillment of Isaiah 55:3 and 2 Samuel 7:12-13. And, through faith in Christ and the gospel, the remnant of Israel was receiving their new covenant, whereby they too were inheriting the resurrection promise made to David. The restoration of Israel – through their resurrection – was being accomplished in the first century, and Paul, through the power of the Holy Spirit was a “witness” to these things.
