In Acts 13, Paul interprets his ministry to both Jew and Greek as the fulfilment of Isaiah 49; a prophesy of the resurrection and restoration of Israel. The same “sure mercies” promised to David which Jesus had received through his resurrection, were being extended to the remnant of Israel – and the Gentiles – through the establishment of the New Covenant. Paul and Barnabas continued the restorative work that the Servant (Jesus) of the Lord had begun. Israel’s restoration through resurrection was taking place in the first century in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.
