In Isaiah 11, the prophet said that “in the day” when the Spirit rested upon Jesus (the Root of Jesse) Israel would be restored, and through that restoration, the nations would seek Jesus. In AD27 at his baptism in Jordan, the Spirit had rested upon Jesus meaning that the restoration of Israel had begun. Paul, in his epistle to the Romans interpreted the Gentile inclusion into the Israel’s promises in Christ, as the fulfillment of Isaiah 11. Contrary to the modern dispensational view, Israel’s restoration was a first century reality which had begun in Jesus through the Spirit, and would continue in the disciples following Pentecost.
